13 minute Portrait of Matthias Dandois-Delaigue.Matthias was crowned the world’s best BMX flatlander in October 2008 – some feat for the then 19-year-old. But the victory was the culmination of six years hard work in the sport. Dandois-Delaigue began life riding street but, in 2002, saw someone riding flatland in his local skatepark and fancied his chances. It was a choice that paid dividends and Dandois-Delaigue shook up the sport well before his world championship triumph. After an incredible final battle with American Terry Adams, Dandois-Delaigue won the 2007 Voodoo Jam in New Orleans, the final event of the world circuit. He was hailed as one of the most-inspiring next generation riders and has not looked back since with victory in the same event in 2008 crowning Dandois-Delaigue champion. Not one of hang around, the Frenchman continued to establish himself as the world’s top rider with 2009 wins including the second round of the Flatland World Circuit in Japan.
